Burton and Lichfield Junior Girls squad Burfield played their first Notts, Lincs & Derbys League matches against HMH Vixens cluster team at Hinckley RFC. HMH Vixens are a new cluster team comprising players from Hinckley, Market Harborough and Melton Mowbray.
Burfield U18’s Try scorers were Sophie Rowley hat trick, brace from Rose Jay, one apiece for newcomers Danny Hood and Jade Hood. Chelsey Fuggle scored her first try as an U18. Conversions from Sophie Rowley x 2 and Zoe Burrows x 1
Burfield U15’s captain Emma Harbage scored a hat trick with a brace of debut tries from centre Mollie Delaney. Hooker Becky Noon scored twice with a further score from Phoebe Jay, 3 conversions by Ariane Thyne and 2 by Sarah Nicholas to ensure an emphatic 50-0 victory.
Burfield U15’s captain Emma Harbage scored a brace of tries in the first half both converted by Sarah Nicholas. Nottinghamshire visitors Paviors rallied to score two with one conversion before half time. After the interval Paviors continued to press Burfield and scored two further tries with one conversion. Burfield replied with tries from Mollie Delaney, Maria Shea, Sarah Nicholas and Sarah Kelly with Nicholas adding two conversions to leave the result Burfield 38 Paviors 24.
Burfield U15’s travelled to Worcester and fought a closely contested 10 a side match. Burfield started well with tries from centres Emma Biles and Molly Delaney with one conversion by Sarah Nicholas, Worcester replied with a score before the interval. Burfield U15’s opened the scoring with an early try by Maria Shea converted by Sarah Nicholas. The visitors responded finding space for their wingers to show their pace with four tries before the interval to take a 20-7 lead.
Burfield showed great determination as they rallied with scores from Becky Noon, Georgia Bradley and a brace from Phoebe Jay and Mollie Delaney with captain Nicholas scoring and converting three. Burfield 48 Old Northamptonians 20.
