Mini Juniors Welcome & News

A warm welcome to the Lichfield Mini Juniors.

Formed in 1972 we are one of the oldest and biggest mini junior clubs in the Midlands, with over 260 boys & girls from ages 7 - 17.

Our coaches, first aiders and managers are CRB checked, and have the necessary RFU coaching awards. The club ethos is to develop every player regardless of ability, pushing those that show a real talent.

Selection for matches against other teams is usually done on a mix of merit for festival/ cup competitions (U7 - U17) and league games (U13 upwards) and player development for friendly matches. (U7 - U12).  We have mixed sex age groups from U7 - U12.  The one overriding objective is to have some fun safely playing rugby.

The running of the section is conducted in accordance with the RFU Seal of Approval which the section has held since 2005.  In 2007/8 we were the Midlands SOA regional winners.  We are a voluntary organization with no paid staff; every element of the section is run by player's parents, grandparents & other relatives, who all enjoy helping to make the section be successful.

New players are always welcome to come and try the game, come along for a few sessions to see if you enjoy training & playing.  Just wear any basic kit of shorts, socks and shirt (enough layers to keep warm and dry); you will also need a drink (water or squash). You can wear football boots to start off or trainers if it's dry! Once you get into the sport and you can buy the correct kit from our club house shop.
Sessions are every Sunday early September - end of April. 10.30am - 12.00.  U13 - U 17 also train on a Wednesday night from 7pm.  Please check your age group web pages for details of fixtures & training as matches are also played on a Sunday. Give the age group manager or coach a call and come along!

Membership fees are £80 in total for each season. (About £2.20 per session) These are payable in the last week of September once new starters have shown some commitment (usually going to bed in their rugby kit on a Saturday night ready for Sunday!)

If you have any more questions please drop me a line.

Many thanks
